This past week my wife and I had the privilege of attending the Celebrators Conference in Pigeon Forge. A big shout out to the church here at Mossy Grove for sending us. The folks here sure know how to love their pastor. During the conference we had the pleasure to set under Dr. David Jeremiah, Max Lucado and Phil Waldrep. We were blessed by all the speakers and especially by the Gaithers.
Dr. Jeremiah preached on the Rapture of the Church from 1 Thessalonians chapter 4. Of course, that is the event when our wonderful Lord will appear in the clouds and call his church home. The dead in Christ will rise first and then those that remain will be changed, and we will be caught up together to meet the Lord: and so shall we ever be with Him. Dr. Jeremiah gave us 7 truths concerning the event. I will not share all but I want to share a few of the great truths concerning this time.
First of all it will be a sign-less event, meaning there will be no forewarning. It could happen before I finish this blog or it could be 100 years from now. We certainly cannot predict when it will happen but nothing else needs to happen before it can happen.
It will be sudden. Paul said in his letter to the church at Corinth that it will happen in a moment in the twinkling of an eye, the time it takes light to bounce off the human eye at 186 thousand miles per second…….. There will be no time to prepare.
It will be a selective, that is only for those who have a personal, saving relationship with Jesus Christ. People today have a hard time with this truth, they somehow think that every road will lead to eternal life. The Bible is plain, Jesus is the ONLY way to eternal life. You cannot believe the Bible and believe anything else.
And the last truth I will share is that the rapture of the church will be a strengthening event. Paul said we are to comfort one another with these truths. For the children of God, nothing could be better than for our Lord and Master to call us home with him. It helps us to know we have hope beyond this messed up world. I hope you are ready! Until next time……..
