Goodbye 2016

Greetings in the name of our wonderful Lord Jesus. As I reflect on another year gone by, I am filled with thanksgiving for the past year and excitement and almost a nervousness for another new year. I look around and see so many ministry opportunities and know that God expects us each to be involved in reaching out to those who desperately need the gospel. This past Sunday (Christmas Day), we at Mossy Grove, had a great opportunity to give Jesus something special for that special day. After a short message from Genesis chapters 34 & 35 each congregant was given a sheet with a Christmas Tree and Cross and ask to write something on the sheet they wanted to present Jesus on his Birthday. I want to share what I wrote, one word… TIME. I want to offer my Lord a more productive use of my time in this new year.

We are encouraged, nay commanded, in the Word of God to redeem the time for the days are evil. The word redeem, of course, means to rescue from loss. I feel that time is our most precious commodity and we must guard it closely. My prayer for 2017 is that every minute of every day we will be intentionally engaged in reaching out. A Scripture that constantly challenges me is found in Acts chapter 26. Paul is giving his testimony before King Herod Agrippa II, and in the midst of that testimony tells the mission he personally received from the Lord. To open their eyes, and to turn them from darkness to light, and from the power of Satan unto God, that they may receive forgiveness of sins, and inheritance among them which are sanctified by faith that is in me.

I am encouraged in this new year to take every opportunity to share the only One who has the power to forgive sin, the only One who can open blind eyes, turn from darkness to light and offer inheritance among the saints…..

Thanks again to the folks at Mossy Grove for allowing me the privilege of being your “full time” pastor. Bi-vocational ministry is needed and has many perks….. But I praise God for full time ministry!!  Thanks for allowing me that privilege this past year.

I am currently on vacation with my wife, best friend and love of my life. Everyday I spend with her I am amazed and more thankful that God allows someone like me to be linked for life with her. God Bless and Happy New Year………
