Greetings in the name of our wonderful Lord Jesus Christ. 2016 is now gone and 2017 already underway. I am sure your New Year Resolutions have been made and everyone is back to work and back to school. As we think about a new year I am reminded of how much the Bible has to say about new things. In fact, the moment we became disciples of Christ, we were given new life. The Bible says in 2 Corinthians 5:17: “Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: Old things are passed away, behold, all things are become new.”
One of the things we seem to do is look upon salvation as just the forgiveness of sins. As great as it is to have our sins forgiven, as necessary as it is, as critical as it is….. it is just a part of salvation. The Bible says that once a person dies with Christ, just as Christ was raised from the dead, so we are raised to walk in newness of life. Salvation is more than just having our sins wiped away, it is a transformation.
I pray that you have been born again into this new, exciting, vibrant life that can only be offered by and through Jesus Christ. Jesus said that he came that we might have life and that we might have it more abundantly. Do you have abundant life? If not you can:
Realize that you are a sinner; For all have sinned and come short of the glory of God. Romans 3:23
Realize that because of your sin you are separated from a Holy God; For the wages of sin is death! Romans 6:23
Realize that Christ died to pay the price for your sin; But God commendeth His love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners Christ died for us. Romans 5:8
Decide today to repent of your sin and submit your life to Christ; That is thou shalt confess with thy mouth the Lord Jesus and shalt believe in thine heart that God raised Jesus from the dead, thou shalt be saved. Romans 10:9
Because of a God that so loves the world that He sent Jesus to die for your sin, you can start this New Year with New Life in Christ. The Scripture is clear, For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
